Biking Denmark (continued)

Another day of biking south ended in Kolding. The meals in the hotel every night were quite delicious. The next day we took the train south to Aabenraa to the archives mentioned above.

On the following morning we headed east onto and across the island of Fyn. We visited the childhood home of the famous author of ‘The Little Mermaid’, Hans Christian Andersen. On the east side of Fyn, we took the ferry back to the island of Zealand where we stayed overnight in Slagelse. The hotel there was the pits. Breakfast was scheduled for 7 am but we had to stumble over drunks sleeping in the halls only to find out there was no breakfast.

We biked on east to Ringsted, the namesake of the town in Iowa where I was born. From there it was on to Roskilde where we planned to overnight, but after touring the city and the Viking Museum it was late afternoon with plenty of daylight so we biked on to Copenhagen, thus ending our bicycle tour of Danmark.
